The prototypes arrived today! I’ve been teasing out some of the artwork for my dungeon crawl RPG card tiles over the last couple weeks, and now I have real copied to show off.  This project is starting to coming to life.

I have always been fascinated by games that use modular tiles for their board. A couple great examples are Space Hulk and Shadows of Brimstone. I don’t know what it is about tile terrain in games but I love it. I just had to give it my own twist.

A couple problems I wanted to solve with my dungeon tiles was managing space and cost. Most tiles you get in a game like the ones I mentioned above are tough cardboard like you would expect from a board in a board game. While the durability of these types of tiles is great, they take up a lot of space and they get overwhelming to manage. Additionally, they are expensive to produce.

While perusing the internet, I stumbled upon some 3.5 x 3.5 inch cards, and I thought that they are the perfect size fore a 3 inch x 3 inch grid. After that I got to work putting together some artwork.

The idea is still in its early stages, but it is coming together great. These new prototypes turned out great. They are a big step in getting this project off the ground.

I plan to develop these into a Kickstarter project that I will launch later this year. Hopefully many people will get to enjoy these dungeon tiles with me.
